 What do you think the term media effects means?

Media effects refers to the many ways individuals and society may be influenced by both news and entertainment mass media, including film, television, radio, newspapers, books, magazines, websites, video games, and music.

What do you think the term regulation means?

It means where we can consume who can and access the the product, to protect the product

Media effects- refers to the audience of media exposure on people, and these effects can be positive or negative

Media regulation- rules enforced by law across a variety of media platforms to protect audience and manage the rights of media content

passive audience- they believe anything they see on the internet

My overall opinion is that people should be more careful when producing a media product but they can't think about everything and be to PG or it will take away aspects of what they are trying to tell the audience


Cultivation theory- by repetitive viewing violence images the audience may become immune towards negative and/or violent representations, as per ideas about desensitisation (becoming used to graphic/violent images owing to saturation in the media)

It also brings about the idea of 'Mean World Syndrome' That the more we watch things like news reports and documentaries

People use the media for things like

-escapism 

-surveillance 

-building personal relationship

-building personal identity
